2024 – Year of the Dragon
The Vines Team hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year with your families
DIRECTOR’S REFLECTION OF 2023
Firstly, Happy New Year to our families and friends of the wonderful community here at The Vines. We welcome you and your children back to another exciting year ahead.
We would also like to extend a very warm welcome to our new families and friends that have joined our community recently. All of us here at The Vines ELC hope you have felt welcomed and supported throughout your transition into our centre here at The Vines.
Mark and I have taken some time to reflect over the past 8 months since we, along with our daughters, took over the ownership of the centre. It was a big year entering a new industry, building and establishing a strong and nurturing teaching team along with bringing our facility up to a high standard but we feel we are well on track for an amazing 2024!
Last year involved significant investment in our premises with upgrades and long overdue maintenance requirements. We still have a few areas we would like to invest into further and we intend to chip away at our list throughout the year. More recently Bianca and Hailee have been working tirelessly behind the scenes along with myself, streamlining processes and establishing more effective systems to support our team to be as efficient as possible. A very big thank you to all who have also contributed towards this.
We also want to make mention of our Children’s Christmas Party that was an amazing success. This event was a true reflection of the environment and community feeling that is at the heart of our vision for The Vines. We intend to work towards hosting a couple of significant events across the year which helps to build on our strong sense of community that brings everyone together. It also provides an opportunity to meet other local families and provides a real sense of belonging for all.
Thank you to each and every one of you for what you bring to our community here at The Vines.
We simply are a great place to grow.
Inspire and empower
This year as part of developing and upskilling our teachers at The Vines, Hanan (Karepe Room) and Kristine (Puāwai Room) will be attending a SELO (Strengthening Early Learning Opportunities) professional development programme.
Autism New Zealand is a SELO provider that supports teachers, kaiako and/or educators to improve their teaching practices. The programme that they will be attending will help them to confidently:
- identify the style of play that best suit the child with Autism
- use appropriate methods of play such as, patterns, memory, variation and interrupting
- understand their role in playing with a young child and implement play goals.
Thank you for all the Google reviews
Hailee (Head Teacher in the Pihi Room) is now our acting manager.
If you have any issues or questions please contact her by email: manager@thevineselc.co.nz or phone: 021 339 246
